Million Dollar Destiny

Is the American Dream dead?
Maybe. Certainly there are a lot of powerful people doing their best to kill it. But one man is out to find out for sure. Remi Frazier has a plan. He wants to turn $100 into $1,000,000 (that's a million for you lazy readers) in a month's time.

He left Colorado with $100 in his pocket, a one way ticket to New York, a change of clothes, and, he says, no friends or contacts in the city at all.

I found out about him thru some link or other. The beauty of the internet is that you can surf endlessly sometimes, and while the vast majority of what's out there is pure garbage, occasionally you come across something interesting. This guy Remi is no doubt motivated. He's definitely smart. Well spoken. One can argue that this is all anyone needs to make a fortune in the Land of Opportunity. But again the question is, is this still the Land of Opportunity?

Being a natural born cynic, my first reaction to this idea was something along these lines: oh brother, it's another wanker trying to make himself a quick buck thru sheer grass roots publicity. I remembered the guy who put up a web site threatening to kill a bunny rabbit unless he received X number of dollars in donations. OK, Mr Frazier is not doing anything quite as evil as that, nothing that could be construed as blackmail or ransom. His only crime is his gratuitous use of marketing buzzwords. In fact his first rule is "do no evil", and he claims he's got a real business plan, with a real product to sell, though as yet he has not disclosed the nature of the product, understandably. And maybe that's the hook -- sometimes all it takes to capture people's attention is just a good mystery. I know I'm intrigued.

More power to him, I say. I hope he makes his million. It might restore some of my faith in the American Dream after all. If nothing else, it will help to dispel the notion that all New Yorkers are rude and mean.

I have know Remi since College, my first impression was that my old college buddy just lost his mind, after talking with him and reviewing his plan and the product itself, I have to say that I glad to know Remi. I now consider him one of the sure-geniuses of our time, or at least one of the biggest dreamer, but then again how do you tell the difference, maybe the outcome or in how this project of his inspires us all to go big or go home. Viva La Remi!

I've knew Remi in school too. It's a silly idea. Look at the documents he has created -- it's obvious he never took a business 101 class. He says that he's out to prove "the American dream" isn't dead. He's really just trying to get rich quick and make a spectacle out of himself in the process.

Remi's not stupid but he is not a "sure-genius" and absolutely lacking in common sense or a grounding in reality. If he made a documentary that followed his learning about business and struggle to find VC, I might be interested. He's just making a mockery of people that have actually tried hard to get a business off the ground.
