Mt. Washington Base
Entering the parking lot for the Mt. Washington Auto Road. For a fee, you can drive your car up a winding road to the summit, provided the weather is cooperating. But this is not often the case. Take our trip for example: we were only allowed to go to the treeline, because there were icy conditions on the road. The temperature at the summit was 13°. Wind was blowing at around 87 mph with gusts up to 130! The treeline was cold and windy enough for me. Mt. Washington is said by some to have the "worst weather in North America."
